Locate the newest printer driver for your specific model printer and operating system on the printer manufacturer’s website. Download and install new drivers according to manufacturer instructions. Because it’s unlikely that a new company will have the capital to purchase a copier outright, renting is increasingly looking like the best option.  We know you don’t want to think about it, but there is always the possibility that a business venture will not go as planned. You don’t want to be stuck making payments on equipment you don’t need if that time comes. Mobile Businesses Some businesses are frequently on the go. Take a film crew, for example. They might film in 6 different locations over the span of 6 months. It’s not uncommon for these types of companies to rent copiers when they get to their destination, rather than taking one with them when they travel.  No Commitments Leasing is the most inexpensive way to acquire a new machine. Monthly payments on a lease are lower than the cost of renting month-to-month, but renting comes with the benefit of being able to return the machine when you want.  A lease cannot be canceled. The dimensions, uses, and alternatives of the A4 paper size 

A4 Magazines, catalogues, letters, and forms can all be printed on paper that is designated as A4 size. Dimensions A4 measures 210 × 297 millimeters or 8.27 × 11.69 inches. In PostScript, its dimensions are rounded off to 595 × 842 points. Folded twice, an A4 sheet fits in a C6 size envelope (114 × 162 mm). Part of the ISO 216 standard The ISO A or ISO 216 standard refers to a group of page sizes, of which A4 is one. The German DIN 476 standard from 1922 served as the foundation for this international standard. In reality, A4 is frequently referred to as DIN A4. The JIS P 0138-61 standard for paper sizes was adopted by the Japanese.  An A4 document can be folded in half along its shortest side to become an A5. A3 paper size is equal to two A4 pages stretched out side by side. As a result, a range of paper sizes from A0 (which has a surface area of one square metre) to A10 is produced. All sizes have the same height/width ratio of 1:1.41, or the square root of 2.The dimensions always get rounded to the nearest millimetre. Resolution needed to print an A4 size picture To output an image properly it needs to have a certain minimum resolution. The number of pixels depends on the required output quality. At 300 ppi (pixels per inch) an A4-sized image needs to contain 2480 × 3508 pixels. This is the required resolution for quality offset printing that will be viewed from a short distance (such as books, brochures, magazines, calendars,…). For photo books, it is also the optimum resolution but a somewhat lower pixel count (250 dpi) is fine for great-looking photographs. At 150 ppi the image needs to be 1240 × 1754 pixels. This is the minimum resolution for newspapers or posters viewed from a fairly short distance. A digital camera with decent image quality and a resolution of 8 megapixels or more can be used to print high-quality A4 size pictures. A somewhat lower resolution is still fine. I’ve had excellent results with my six-megapixel Nikon D70.

The size of printer paper

Most likely, the last time you purchased printer paper, it was 20-pound, letter-sized bond. It was probably 16-pound bond if you purchased inexpensive paper. Although letter-size paper is the typical size for computer paper, you can also utilise different sizes and thicknesses that will frequently better fit your needs.  Default paper sizes  The majority of printers used in offices today are designed for paper that is 8.5 inches wide. Wider paper will often not fit in the printer, and narrower paper can tend to shift from side to side while the print job is being processed. The standard sizes of paper in the United States include: Letter-size paper: 8.5 x 11. Used for letters, brochures and flyers, it has an aspect ratio of 1:1.2941. Legal-size paper: 8.5 x 14. Slightly longer than letter-size paper, it’s commonly used for brochures and flyers. It has an aspect ratio of 1:1.6471. Tabloid/ledger paper: 11 x 17. Twice as long as letter-size paper, it’s also used for flyers and brochures. It has an aspect ratio of 1:1.5455. Half letter-size paper: 8.5 x 5.5. Used for postcards, greeting cards and small flyers, it has an aspect ratio of 1:1.5455. Paper thickness and weight  In the United States, paper thickness is measured by its weight based on 500 sheets, which is one ream. The reasoning behind this system is that paper is extremely thin, and it is difficult to measure its width, so thickness can be easily determined since 500 sheets of thick paper weigh more than 500 sheets of thin paper. However, there can be variation from one company to another since the paper is weighed before it’s cut. You’ll notice that 500 sheets of 20-pound paper doesn’t actually weigh 20 pounds. The shorthand “#” is often used for pounds on paper packaging. Bond paper: The most common paper used in offices today, this is to what most people refer when they describe printer paper. Bond paper comes in 16, 20, 24, 28, 32 and 36 pounds.  Text paper: This is used in commercial printing, usually for brochures and stationery. It comes in 50, 60, 70, 80 and 100 pounds. Book paper: Used primarily for printed books, catalogs and magazines, book paper comes in sizes ranging anywhere between 30 and 115 pounds. Cardstock: Also known as cover paper, this is thick, stiff paper resembling light cardboard. It comes in sizes ranging from 60 to 120 pounds. Index paper: Used for index cards, postcards and folders, this comes in 90, 110 and 140 pounds. Tag paper: Used primarily for things like signs, price tags and door hangers, this is very thick and sturdy paper. It comes in thicknesses ranging from 100 to 200 pounds. Size of printer paper in pixels  In short, there is no direct comparison from pixels to the size of paper without first looking at your printer’s print quality and the quality of the image on your computer. For the best quality, professional printers recommend that you use a software setting of 300 PPI, which can be done from your printer settings (high-quality setting) or from some programs like Adobe Photoshop. At 300 PPI, a standard letter-size piece of paper will be: 2550 pixels wide (300 pixels/inch x 8.5 inches) 3300 pixels high (300 pixels/inch x 11 inches)

What Causes Most Problems With Photocopiers?

One question that is probably ringing in your mind is, “What causes the most problems in photocopiers?” Is your photocopier randomly malfunctioning? Well, this can be a result of a bunch of things. Let’s look at common issues that can lead to copier maintenance. Overheating As we earlier stated, a copier can perform so many functions. These functions could range from copying documents on a large scale and editing them to auto-duplexing. Now, imagine the workload a copier is exposed to every day. By constantly using your copier to perform these functions without giving it time to cool off, overheating is sure to happen. Even humans are likely to break down (fall sick) when we overwork ourselves. Similarly, a copier could break down if it’s not given enough time and ventilation to cool off between tasks. Wrong Size of Copy Machine The functionality of a printer is crucial, but what about the size? That is an issue many offices fail to consider when purchasing a copier. Some copiers can’t produce the same volume per month. Wear and tear are unavoidable if you assign more tasks to your copier than it can handle. Also, making your copier produce less than the minimum output it is designed to produce can cause problems. For example, an enterprise copier is for high-volume and frequent use, and underusing it can be disastrous. Paper Jams Paper jams are another common cause of copier problems. What causes paper jams? Paper jams can occur due to low paper quality. When there is an accumulation of low-quality paper bits, it could cause a paper jam. The wrong insertion of paper can also cause paper jams. This is the most common cause of paper jams. It occurs when you don’t align your paper correctly into the machine. When putting the paper in the input tray, many people overload it. That is a common blunder. Others may fold these papers, forcing them into the tray, and create problems. How bad could paper jams be? Well, paper jams may damage a photocopier’s internal components. That would cause outrageous repair bills. Trouble With The Toner The toner may be low or completely damaged. A low cartridge is typical. When you start noticing that your copies are appearing faded, it’s a sign that the toner is low. Then, you’d need to take it out and install a new toner. To prevent copy problems, you must ask yourself these questions. Is my toner correctly set up? Am I using the right kind of toner cartridge? Is it compatible with the copier? If your copier starts to malfunction due to a damaged cartridge or wrong setup, you must contact a technician to look into it. Imbalance In Density Controls Imbalanced density is a common cause of copier problems, particularly in print production that is too dark or bright. It could ruin a good photocopy. Most of the time, this is the cause of excessively dark or light copies. Other times, your drum may be gradually expiring. However, if it’s an imbalance in density control, the solution is to reset the density control.

How A Photocopier Functioning

Photocopiers function because of the principle of ‘opposite charges attract’.  Below are the six main steps in the photocopying process: Charging – The part of the photocopier called a drum is electrostatically charged. The drum has a photoconductive coating which becomes conductive upon exposure to light. Exposing – A bright light passes over the document to be copied. The part of the document which is coloured white reflects the light on the photoconductive drum and it becomes positively charged. Meanwhile, the parts which are dark or black remain negatively charged. Developing – The positively charged toner is attracted by the negatively charged areas of the reflected image. Transferring – The toner is then transferred from the drum onto a piece of paper. A stronger negative charge is applied to the paper to attract the toner. Fusing – The paper then passes through heated rollers to melt the toner and bond it onto the paper. This is why papers coming out of the copy machine are warm. Cleaning – To ensure that the residual toners are removed from the photoconductive drum and prepare it for the next image, photocopiers have rotating brushes that cleans it after every photocopying process. The process used by modern digital photocopiers is not different from the process mentioned above. However, there are some improvements in the methods such as the change from the exposing process into an image scanning process. This enables the photocopier to remember the image to be copied and to make copies faster.

Problems with printing quality (Part 2)

You may notice a decline in print quality if the inside of the machine is unclean or if paper is loaded incorrectly. To solve the problem, go to the table below. Vertical lines If black vertical streaks appear on the page: • The drum inside the toner cartridge has probably been scratched. Remove the toner cartridge and install a new one. If white vertical streaks appear on the page: • The surface of the LSU part inside the machine may be dirty. Clean the LSU. Gray background  If the amount of background shading becomes unacceptable: • Change to a lighter weight paper. • Check the machine’s environment: very dry (low humidity) or high humidity (higher than 80% RH) conditions can increase the amount of background shading. • Remove the old toner cartridge and install a new one. Toner smear • Clean the inside of the machine. • Check the paper type and quality. • Remove the toner cartridge and install a new one. Vertical repetitive  If marks repeatedly appear on the printed side of defects the page at even intervals: • The toner cartridge may be damaged. If a repetitive mark occurs on the page, print cleaning sheet several times to clean the cartridge;. After the printout, if you still have the same problems, remove the toner cartridge, and install a new one. • Parts of the machine may have toner on them. If the defects occur on the back of the page, the problem will likely correct itself after a few more pages. • The fusing assembly may be damaged. Contact a service representative.
