SOLUTIONS TO COMMON COPIER PROBLEMS
1. JAMS OF PAPER
The most common copy machine error is a paper jam. The causes range from incorrect paper size to improper paper loading. Because of these issues, copiers pull paper through incorrectly, resulting in a jam. As a result, employees may arrive late for meetings or miss important deadlines. To resolve these issues, someone must manually remove the jammed paper and reload the proper paper size or correct the paper alignment. There’s also the issue of paper dust, which clogs machines and causes paper jams. The best way to avoid paper dust is to clean the feed tyres on a regular basis and vacuum away dust that has accumulated inside the copier.
2. LINES ON PAPER
There is a problem with the copier when you copy a document with simple text or images and the finished copy has streaks, lines, or other deformities. Because this problem can occur for a variety of reasons, determining a solution may necessitate some photocopier troubleshooting.
Possible causes of this copy machine issue include:
a.) Foreign materials on scanner glass or mirrors
b.) Drum or developer unit failure (only applies to multi-component copiers)
c.) Drum-blade failure, resulting in large vertical lines down the page
d.) Fuser problem
The first problem is fixed by removing interferences and cleaning the scanner’s glass and mirrors. Cleaning instructions can be found in the user manual for your device. The remaining issues can be resolved by replacing the faulty unit. Contact your service provider to address these concerns.
3. TONER OR CARTRIDGE PROBLEMS
Toner cartridges that are low, empty, or malfunctioning can cause problems with your copy machine. If your toner or cartridges are running low or empty, simply replacing them should solve the problem. If a cartridge fails, it is most likely due to one of two causes:
Manufacturer error – In this case, bring a copy of the poor quality copies as well as the cartridge to the place of purchase and request a replacement.
Incompatibility issues – Most copy machines require specific toner; attempting to use an incompatible version will result in poor print quality.
4. WRINKLED PAGES
There is nothing professional about copy pages that come out of the machine crinkled. It might sound like a minor issue, but what would it look like if employees showed up for a big sales meeting with wrinkly flyers, or submitted reports that looked like they were dug out from the bottom of a student’s backpack? Wrinkled pages are often the result of worn-out feed and exit rollers that cause sticking or jamming. But, worn-out paper trays, moisture caused by humidity and fuser assemblies can also lead to wrinkled pages. If paper stock is noticeably damaged for any reason, do not use it. For issues with paper trays, you can purchase replacements. However, fixing the fuser assembly and feed rollers requires the assistance of a technician.
